Will Russell Named Chair of Accounting Association Task Force
Charleston, S.C.– Will Russell of Charleston-based accounting and business advisory firm Jarrard, Nowell & Russell, LLC, has been appointed chair of the Captive Insurance Section of the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (SCACPA). He will lead the Captive Insurance task force, a group of four professionals who will work closely with the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association (SCCIA), a non-profit organization founded in July 2000.
“I am honored to assist the SCACPA in its efforts to better serve the state and its residents,” said Russell. “The efforts of the association, together with the SCCIA, will both foster communication among industry constituents and allow for growth of the accounting community as a whole.”
The SCCIA’s mission is to promote the formation and growth of captive insurance programs within the state of South Carolina. It performs this role by providing legislative and regulatory representation, organizing educational conferences and preparing a variety of informational resources.
SCACPA’s Captive Insurance task force will work with the South Carolina Department of Insurance on processes that have an impact on CPAs providing audit services to the captives domiciled in the state. Furthermore, the group will work to create a relationship with the South Carolina legislature to ensure the consideration of state CPA interests in legislative decision-making.
